What Does Conform Mean, Follow The Latest Trends?
Latest trends?
What latest trends? Oh you mean the trend of Dr. Fard going on a chocolate tour, my chocolates for that speaking. Yeah remember my last article, where I wrote about How To Write a Good Blog Post! He just ran off and guess what, he came back late in the afternoon, off course without my chocolates. What does conform mean here?
His face and that of Aaila were completely smeared with chocolate. On my question what happened and where my chocolates were, both remain silent. Oh wait you crazy Doc I will find out what you both did, grrr… Now he is back in his office and doing some coordinated computer work with Aitor, damn why today? The Joker is still out of the office, nah I guess no more extra password games today.
Then all the sudden Dr. Fard’s office door opened and Monster came running out as Dr. Fard ran behind him and yelled “Come back Monster, give me my cookies back!”, but Monster, a 2 year old Australian Husky did not stop, he came right at me into my office and hid behind me.
As Dr. Fard entered my office, I asked “Hello Dr. Fard, how are you, are you bringing me my chocolates?”, Dr. Fard ignored my question and looked left and right and then at me and said: “Did you see Monster? I thought I saw him running inside your office.” I answered: “Monster, really? I thought your door is closed. Why would he ran out all the sudden, I have not seen him doing that before, he is such a nice and kind dog, and always takes care of us.”
Monster laid down and kept quite in the hope Dr. Fard would not see nor hear him. Then Dr. Fard said: “Never mind, if he is here, keep him please, I am doing some serious computer experiments with Aitor and I cannot have Monster running around doing stupid things…” Dr. Fard went back to his office and closed the door behind him.
I turned around and Monster went up sitting and proudly showed me the pack of cookies he got from Dr. Fard’s office. Then he dropped it into my hands and gave some nice dog sound from him like saying for you my friend.
I looked at the cookies, wow chocolate pieces inside. Monster is not that stupid after all. He got those cookies for me, a big smile came on my face and I praised Monster for his good deeds. I went to the kitchen and Monster followed me.
In the kitchen I looked in the cabinets to find him his reward, ah there it is a big bone, and I gave it to him. Monster was very proud and happy, we both went back to my office. Let’s see where were we ah yes, this is what I call comfort, coffee and delicious cookies with chocolate pieces.
But, just for the record, that you know, I hate conformity and dislike being the same as everyone else, so I hardly ever follow fashion.
Whenever something becomes popular, lots of people would be doing the same thing, even wearing clothes that are similar. So it seems like a whole bunch of people wearing uniforms in the street. Yuk.
I Think Conformity Lacks Character, Personality and Flair!
Who said that girls must use make-up? I have heard the argument that putting on make-up means you respect the people who are seeing your face, that you are showing them the best face of the world.
Huh? What Does Conform Mean?
I’m showing the world my real face, the face i am born with. That is respectful enough. I abide by the Buddhist precepts and travel on the straight and narrow. That’s good enough for me to live by.
So What Does Conform Mean To My Life?
That time could be better spent on catching up more sleep, exercise, meditate, read or write.
That will make me healthier and smarter.
Non-Conformity Makes a Healthier and Smarter Me!
Sleeping. Yeah I’m the type that if I could sleep just one more minute, I would refuse to get up one minute earlier. Am I extreme or what?
Exercise. Any time spent on that is worth it. Have half an hour? Go jogging with Monster. 15 minutes? Bring out your skipping rope and start jumping. 3 minutes? Stretch your arms and legs. Rotate your head. Roll your eyes.
Meditate. Same principle as above. Any time spent meditating is time well spent. No more fretting at red lights just meditate, do it while waiting for the elevator, or during commercial times when watching tv. Just close your eyes, observe your breathing and calm your inner voice.
Read. Makes you smarter. End of story.
Write. Ditto. Now you know why I am a writer too.
Non-conformity = Being extreme?
I remembered when I used my username onepinkbanana (that was my online identity with several variations of it), a friend commented, “you are so extreme, who sees a pink banana?”
Maybe I am extreme, I don’t know. In terms of character and thoughts, I know I’m very much different from everyone else. Being different meant that I traveled a much lonelier path, until one day, I found some others, who felt the same like me and since then I’m not lonely anymore.
And so I arrived at my office (my 24 hour job) everyday in my best face 😉
Take it or leave it. I’ve had no complaints so far and I got along well with mostly everybody (even Dr. Fard, I forgave him he took my chocolates 🙂 ). So even non-conformity works in a highly conformed society.
My non-conformity examples
1. Wearing make-up: why would I want to put harmful chemicals on my face and body?
2. High-heels are known to alter our center of balance, so do I want to lose my body balance?
3. Not concerned with making myself pretty. This one seems to be obvious to me. If I spend time on caring for looks, that means time away from other things.
and maybe another thousand things…

I see a lot of myself in you. At least the description I think I see. Conformity is boring. I’ve never been one to go with the crowd, it used to drive my parents crazy. They would go right, I’d go left. My sister and I are TOTALLY different. You wouldn’t even realize we were from the same set of parents. It is amazing. Let’s see, since I see so much of myself in you, what can I ask to engage you? Ah….. Chocolate. Is it reward or addiction? It is reward for me, though not very often. What do you think about veggies? I eat a lot of those, salads, fruit salads, apples, carrots, etc. Would you eat those things? I see you are a writer, this is excellent. It gives you the opportunity to let your hair down and show your creative side, as you have done. Excellently done by the way. I do not wear much make up, now that I am over 50 I see age spots, so I wear a little powder and blush just to appeal to me. So many women wear the entire cosmetic counter, not me. I don’t dress for success, I dress for comfort. So I guess I do not conform to life. That isn’t so bad. I like it. It is peaceful and has a lack of stress Do you feel less stress?
I think as an online marketer, I can easily say I do not conform to the “norms” of life. I make my own decisions, and do not feel pressured to do what the crowd is doing. That is truly boring. As for makeup, there are times where I need it and other times when I do not. I do not lose sleep over it. I just go by how I feel on a particular day! Thanks for your humorous posts!
